Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster could not hide his delight after scoring his first goal on English soil for Burnley.

The Championship league leaders romped to a 3-0 win over Wigan Atheltic to move 13 points clear of second-placed Sheffield United and well on course for Premier League promotion with ten games remaining.

Foster, who came on as a substitute with just under half an hour remaining netted the third with a powerful finish from a tight angle and admits it was a major relief to break his duck.

“The celebration to be fair,” Foster told the club’s media when asked what he remembers about the goal.

“I felt pure joy, finally happy that it went in, happy to celebrate with the crowd at Turf Moor and feel the love and joy from my teammates, so perfect, perfect day for me.”

The 22-year-old Orlando Pirates academy product went on to state he was in contact with his family immediately after the game to revel in the special moment as Vincent Kompany’s side maintained a 17-match unbeaten run across all competitions.

“I’ve spoken to my girlfriend and my mother, my sister and my dad’s in the stadium so a lovely day again to share this moment with him,” he added.

“The rest of my family and friends back home were watching the game as well so yeah, a good day for me, a really good day.”
