Former Orlando Pirates ace ‘Fabregas’ shown the door

A former Orlando Pirates player has been released by Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC.

Baroka have been struggling in the second tier this season. They sit rock bottom of the log standings after 11 games.

The club have since taken some drastic measures to try and keep their second-tier status alive. Here’s all the important details below.

Former Orlando Pirates man axed by Baroka

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Collins Makgaka has been released by Baroka FC.

The 29-year-old midfielder has been at the club for over two seasons. The player himself has since confirmed his departure.

“Yes, we have mutually parted ways. So I want to thank the chairman, management, coaches, and everyone at Baroka FC for the opportunity. I also leave with respect and appreciation for all the experiences and memories,” Makgaka told FARPost.

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder will be on the lookout for his next club.

Makgaka’s numbers at the Bucs

Makgaka joined Orlando Pirates back in 2020 from Baroka. He spent three years in Orlando before eventually being also released by the club.

The talented midfielder made 24 appearances for the Buccaneers, scoring twice and assisting two more goals.

He then joined Sekhukhune United however he managed to make just three appearances for the club.

Makgaka is affectionately nicknamed ‘Fabregas’. Mainly for his playing similarities to former Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
