FORMER NEWZROOM AFRIKA NEWS ANCHOR PHILA MTHEMBU JOINS EAST COAST RADIO
Seasoned Journalist Phila Duma-Mthembu has joined one of KZN top commercial radio stations East Coast Radio as a newsreader.
Mthembu is widely known in KZN for his association with Vuma 103 FM, where he previously worked as a newsreader and journalist.
After leaving the station he joined 24 hour news channel Newsroom Afrika as a field reporter and gained more popularity and cemented his name as one of the forces in news reporting.
He left the channel in March 2026. After leaving the latter, Phila continued reporting on news in KZN on his personal capacity and covered the highly talked about March and March protests keeping his followers glued on his personal social media account.
An excited Mthembu took to his social media pages and posted:
‘Last month I received a call and I answered! I remember the words “we would love to bring your personality and experience to our news bulletins”. And with that said, I am incredibly excited to be joining the East Coast Radio Family. I step into this platform as a News Anchor and get to work with an amazing team of insanely passionate journalists and remarkable talent,” he wrote.
