Jabulani Khumalo, the former leader of the Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, has lost his attempt in court to retain control of the party’s bank account, which receives donations.

Khumalo, who was expelled from the party in April, sought to control the account while appealing his expulsion.

However, the Pretoria High Court rejected his request and ordered Standard Bank to remove him, Lebohang Moepeng, and Musa Gasa as signatories on the account.

Khumalo was also ordered to pay the legal costs, including the fees for two lawyers.

“The First Respondent (Khumalo) is ordered to pay the costs of this application, such costs to be calculated on a scale as between attorney and client,” said the court.

The costs also include the fees of two advocates.

The MK party welcomed the decision and suggested that Khumalo may be receiving financial assistance from the party’s enemies.

Khumalo has not yet responded to the ruling.
