Former Crime Intelligence head, Richard Mdluli, has been released on parole. He was sentenced to an effective five-year prison term in 2020. Mdluli was convicted of kidnapping, assaulting and intimidating Oupa Ramogibe in 1998.
Ramogibe had married Mdluli’s customary-law wife, Tshidi Buthelezi.
Mdluli was also charged with Ramogibe’s 1999 murder but those charges were later withdrawn.
