Journeyman William Twala is back in South Africa and looking for a new club after playing at Erbil SC in Iraq, at Madan Maharaj in India and Chittagong Abahani in Bangladesh over the last three years.
The former Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, Chippa United and Maritzburg United winger spoke to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago, in edition 102 of the newspaper, about not being picky about clubs, saying he believes his style of play suits any team.
Twala also shares in the interview why he took a different route to secure his future financially before returning home to play for honours without any pressure.
The 33-year-old also added that he first wanted to get back in shape but is now ready to start a new South African adventure ahead of the 2023/24 season..
“Remember I’ve been out of the country for three years and I came while the season was in progress, so it was difficult for people to trust in me after being away for so long,” Twala told iDiski Times.
“So the best option I thought it would be to start with a team for pre-season hence I took time off to say ‘no, let me wait for pre-season, so I can be able to adjust’.
“But at the moment I don’t have options. Hopefully by the grace of God, this interview will open more doors than I have to go in and ask.”
Twala also admitted that he would be open to join a team in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, but his main intention is to play in the top flight again.
“I don’t know for sure but any other opportunities that come, if it’s NFD or PSL [DStv Prem] after all South Africans football is one,” he continued.
“If you start in the NFD there’s a chance that you might go up again. I’m quite open to any opportunity.
“At the moment, I think my style of play would suit any team.
“Just like you are saying I have played for a lot of teams in South Africa so it gives me an advantage to say I can adapt to any style of play the coach might assume or might ask of me.

“So any opportunity that might come, I know I’m flexible to any kind of style of play with also the advantage of having played abroad. I bring something different.”
