Former Bucs Captain’s Advice For ‘Complete’ Mofokeng

Legendary Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi has offered some advice to the club’s rising star Relebohile Mofokeng.

The teenager has been a marvel to watch in Black and White, playing four matches in the league this season, where he has one assist, two more in the CAF Champions League and one game in the MTN 8.

The former Buccaneers skipper says Mofokeng is bold for his age and it shows in his performances, however, he needs to keep his feet on the ground and not let his head grow big.

Lekgwathi spoke to iDiski Times Writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 119 of the newspaper, where he said he has seen youngsters with the same potential as Mofokeng come and go at Pirates, with most of them not being able to build solid careers because of a big head.

“I was so surprised with the way he plays, he has the big heart of a lion,” Lekgwathi told iDiski Times.

“You can see that he takes advice from some people like his former coach who played for Pirates, Joseph Makhanya. You can see from how he plays that he has been developed well and guided by someone, who played for Pirates.

“He plays so simple; he knows when to take a man on and where to pass. So he is a complete player and I just hope he will grow with the same attitude.

“From my experience of playing at Pirates, there are some youngsters, who come there and become big-headed after some few games. I just hope and pray he doesn’t fall into that trap and some of them were good but they are nowhere today.

“I think he must just remain humble and continue to work hard.”
