AmaZulu coach Romain Folz has admitted his record at the club should be better than just two wins in the DStv Premiership.
The former Marumo Gallants coach’s record is not as appealing as he would have wanted, having won only two league matches, beating Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs – both at home, while he’s yet to win an away match.
In those matches, Usuthu have drawn seven and lost two, including the last game to TS Galaxy at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Ahead of their clash with Royal AM, who are one of the clubs Folz has lost to, he admitted that his record is not looking too good to him but he hopes to change things around soon.
“It’s not that you should have done better, you could have done better,” the Frenchman said.
“There are a lot of elements that came into play to explain it and yes there are a lot of draws that should have been wins.
“Ultimately, if you want to be realistic, coming in the middle of the season, you have to address the new environment that you are in because a lot of things are going on.
“It’s not as good as I would like and we are looking for it to be better, obviously.”
Folz was appointed in October last year to change the fortunes at Usuthu, replacing Brandon Truter, who departed after losing three games on the trot.
As Folz’s record is not looking too impressive, many people in KwaZulu-Natal were left stunned that the management of Usuthu gave him a new three-year deal on Friday, a day before the loss to Galaxy, on top of his current short-term deal which was expiring at the end of the season.
Folz was also asked if he was ready to be criticised about never setting the scene alight despite guiding the club to the MTN8 final for the first time since 1978 in November last year, but eventually losing to the Orlando Pirates.
“This [criticism] is part of the game,” revealed Folz.

“I would say that, whether it is going well or not, people are allowed to talk and I’m also allowed to listen to that.”
