Fohloza: We Have Better Players Than Chiefs

AmaZulu coach Romain Folz says he has better “players offensively” than Kaizer Chiefs, adding another punch to Amakhosi after he said earlier this week that they will beat the Soweto giants.

Usuthu will host Chiefs in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium today (15:30), in what will be the biggest game for Usuthu in 12 years.

With the tie level at 1-1 after the first leg, Chiefs will need to win to give themselves a chance to reach the final and meet their bitter rivals Orlando Pirates at the same venue on 5 November.

For Usuthu, they will have to keep things as they are as they scored the most important goal in the first leg to reach their first-ever MTN8 final.

“Yes, they have some good players offensively and we do as well,” said Folz.

“In all honestly, I don’t think they are better than us offensively in terms of quality or anything. The same goes with every line on the field defensively, so it is going to be a matter of who applies better strategy and game plan the best on the day.

“But as much as they have quality, we have quality as well to at least at the equal level.”

Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane even himself previously said that AmaZulu has a better squad offensively, counting Augustine Kwem, Lehlolonolo Majoro, Bongi Ntuli, Siphesihle Maduna and Gabadinho Mhango, who any day can give teams a hard time.

However, Usuthu will be without Ntuli due to a foot injury, while Majoro has a 50/50 chance to face his former club after he was left concussed in the league match against Pirates last Friday.

Majoro’s face during the training session this week was swollen badly.

Meanwhile, Chiefs will miss the services of Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana after he picked up an injury in 2-1 loss against Chippa United. The Burundian striker is reportedly set to be out for weeks.

This means Chiefs will miss his focal point and goals, as he is one of the top goal scorers in the league with six goals, levelled with Bradley Grobler and Peter Shalulile.

As much as that is the case, Folz threw in a caution that Chiefs will still be a dangerous side without their talisman.

“It is not going to make a job easy or difficult, he has a profile that is specific which is a target man and they can play around him,” said Folz.

“If he doesn’t play, someone else will play and will give them different attributes and different qualities.

“He’s good player, but they have other players who can start in place of him. Its nature of the time, sometimes you have people available and sometimes not, and it is the case to me as well.”
