  • Five people, including a child, were killed after a Corsa collided with a tipper truck on the N2 in Inkosi uMtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal.
  • Two others were seriously injured, while authorities work to clear the scene and support affected families.
  • An investigation has been launched, marking the second deadly crash in KZN this week.

Another horrific road accident has claimed the lives of five people in Inkosi uMtubatuba Local Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal.

A Corsa and a tipper truck collided in Manandi along the N2 on Friday evening, resulting in the deaths of four adults and one child. Two other passengers were left seriously injured.

MEC for Human Settlements and Transport in the province, Siboniso Duma, has sent his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.

“We wish those injured a speedy recovery. Importantly, the RTI team is working with disaster teams from Inkosi uMtubatuba Local Municipality to speed up recovery efforts and clear the accident scene,” Duma said.

He added that a team from his office will work flat out to ensure they are closer to the affected families.

“An investigation into this accident must be launched in collaboration with the Road Traffic Management Corporation and SAPS.”

This marks the second tragic accident this week, following a taxi and truck crash that claimed 11 lives earlier.
