  • A family of five was killed in a head-on collision on the N2 in Umzumbe, KZN, on Friday evening.
  • Two other passengers survived and were taken to hospital for treatment.
  • Police are investigating the cause of the tragic crash.

Five people who are believed to be members of the same family have died in a horrific head-on accident at Umzumbe, KwaZulu-Natal, on Friday evening.

KZN officials said the crash involved a light motor vehicle and a seven-seater minibus, which occurred on the N2 just before the Umzumbe River bridge.

It has been reported that three children, aged between 3-5 years, and adults believed to be the mother and father died instantly on the scene.

Other victims, a female and a 14-year-old boy, were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

The cause of the accident has not yet been identified and is currently under police investigation.
