Fifth Player Released By Maritzburg United

More heads are rolling out at Maritzburg United.

The club has parted with defender Isaac Masia, as new coach Fadlu Davids is continuing his squad revamp ahead of the second half of the season.

Masia’s departure doesn’t come as a surprise as he played just one match for the club, a 3-0 loss to Stellenbosch FC away in October.

The Team of Choice has since deemed him surplus to requirement in just a short period of time with the club.

The 28-year-old arrived at the beginning of this term on a free transfer from Black Leopards when coach John Maduka was the coach, but only played 73 minutes.

He becomes the fifth player to have been let go by Maritzburg following Zukile Kewuti, Given Mashikinya, Lelethu Skelem and Lucky Baloyi.

Maritzburg, who were the first club to return to training to prepare for the second half of the season, recently appointed Davids in the aim to change the club’s fortunes and his intentions are clear as he wields an axe to the players he feels he won’t need.

They are at the bottom with 11 points after 13 matches, with two wins to show for the effort so far.

Davids’ first game in charge of the club will be against TS Galaxy on 30 December at Harry Gwala Stadium (19:30).
