Fifa lends helping hand to stranded Namibia FA employees | African News

World football governing body Fifa assisted Namibia Football Association (NFA) employees, whose salaries for February were delayed.

According to Namibian publication, NewEra Live, a large group of NFA employees were up in arms most recently – frustrated over the delayed payment of salaries for February due to lack of funds as per the secretary-general’s office.

However, on Friday, NFA’s marketing and communication manager Cassius Moetie stated that Fifa had finally transferred the funds needed to pay the employees delayed wages for February.

An internal memo to that effect was sent to all NFA staff, and it reads as follows: “Further to the previous communication with regard to the delay in salaries payments, we have the pleasure to inform you that Fifa has remitted the funds earmarked for salaries for February 2022. Therefore, payroll will be processed immediately for payment of wages today (last Thursday). 

“As a responsible employer, the NFA engaged all commercial banks to consider reversing the fees and charges incurred on your accounts due to the delay in receiving funds from Fifa.

“The NFA acknowledges that the situation was far from ideal, and we shall endeavour to avoid reoccurrence of this situation in future. Again, we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to all our employees. We thank you for your patience and understanding during these trying times.”
