Portugal and Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes feels Cristiano Ronaldo touched the ball after he was credited with the opening strike against Uruguay.
The 2-0 win, in which Fernandes bagged a brace, secured qualification for the last-16 with one much to spare.
A social media storm somewhat erupted, as is usually the case surrounding Ronaldo, with many suggesting he celebrated to claim Fernades’ strike.
But his former Red Devils teammate claims it doesn’t matter while explaining he celebrated thinking he headed his cross past Sergio Rochet.

“I celebrated as if it had been Cristiano’s goal, it seemed to me that he had touched the ball, my aim was to cross the ball for him,” Fernandes said, as per The Mirror.
“What’s important is that we were able to go to the next round and [secure] a very important win against a very tough opponent.”
FIFA have since stated that technology by adidas confirmed Ronaldo did not touch the ball and the goal was rightfully awarded to Fernandes.
Portugal end their Group H campaign against South Korea on Friday with the comfort of qualification already secured.
