Felix Hlophe’s morning show, The Uprising, has rebranded to Gagasi FM Breakfast. The show has enjoyed a successful run since its formation in 2023, with him and his co-host, Minnie Ntuli, at the helm.
On Tuesday, 31 March, Felix announced on Facebook that he had officially bid farewell to his “baby” (the show) and was looking forward to embracing a new dawn.
Radio enthusiasts always anticipate the April season as it marks reshuffles. They look forward to finding out if their fave made the cut.
FELIX HLOPHE’S BREAKFAST SHOW REBRANDED
Although he is still working at the station, Felix explained that his aim for the breakfast show was to influence how people listen to radio.
“Finally, the day has come. Today I bid farewell to my baby “The Uprising”. It’s the end of an era,” he began.
“I hoped to change the way people listened to radio. I believe my job here is done. On to the next!!! … Looking forward to the future show. #TheLastEpisode,” he added.
Felix also envisioned the name of the show long before he secured the breakfast slot, as he dreamed about it: “The name itself came to me in a dream long before I got the opportunity. I knew my morning radio show will [would] be known as The Uprising,” he concluded.
FELIX HINTED AT A POSSIBLE CHANGE IN MARCH 2026
Felix hinted that change might be on the horizon in a Facebook post in March 2026. Given a report in 2023 where the SABC’s Metro FM was considering enlisting the services of the media personality.
Many of his fans wondered if the regular radio reshuffles in April 2026 would lead him to a new radio station.
He titled the post: “Reflections”, in which he looked back on his broadcast career at Gagasi FM.
FELIX HLOPHE’S CAREER IS ON AN ALL-TIME HIGH
There’s no denying that the Umlazi-born superstar is taking up space in various spheres in the industry.
From sold-out comedy events to anchoring a coveted morning slot on the radio, MC gigs, television presenting, and a sizzling reality show.
With regards to the latter, Felix invited the public into his personal space through a reality TV show on Mzansi Magic.
The show, Life with Felix, focused on his family and social life, including the relationship between his wife, six children, older sister Nozipho, and friends.
His rumoured second wife, Ayanda Bhengu, was also prominent on the show, where Felix was still negotiating with his first wife, Tracy, to accept her as her sister wife.
Although Ayanda’s position within Felix’s life is uncertain, photos of their traditional wedding circulated on social media after Ayanda posted them. This led many to believe that they were married.
