- Two people were killed and six others injured in a shooting at a social gathering in Eldorado Park, Johannesburg.
- Police say a group of about eight men opened fire randomly before fleeing the scene on foot.
- In a separate incident, a couple was shot and killed in their Mpumalanga home, with police searching for suspects.
Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for suspects who killed two people and injured six others in Eldorado Park, Johannesburg.
The fatal shooting happened over the weekend.
Two people were already declared dead by paramedics when police arrived at the scene, while six others were taken to a local hospital with gunshot wounds.
It is alleged that there was a social gathering at the venue when a group of about eight unknown men entered the yard and started shooting randomly at the people before fleeing the scene on foot.
No arrests have been made yet and the motive for the shooting is unknown.
Eldorado Park is one of the places known for rife gang violence and fatal shootings that often affect ordinary residents.
It is also one of the areas in Johannesburg where members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) were deployed last week in efforts to combat crime.
In other crime news, an older couple was found dead in their Mpumalanga home on Sunday, 15 March 2026.
Mpumalanga police have opened a case of double murder for investigation and have launched a manhunt for the suspect/s.
It is reported that a male aged 45 and a female aged 35 were asleep in their house when the suspect/s forced entry and shot at them.
Both victims were certified dead on the scene.
The motive for the killing cannot be confirmed at this stage.
