A violent incident on the N12 East has claimed three lives and left eight others injured after a minibus was targeted in a drive-by shooting.
The attack occurred earlier today at the Paris Street (First Holfontein Street) off-ramp, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The tragedy unfolded on the N12 East off-ramp into Daveyton when an unidentified vehicle pulled alongside the minibus and opened fire.
The gunfire caused the driver to lose control, resulting in a devastating crash.
Emergency responders from the Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) arrived to find a scene of chaos, confirming three fatalities at the roadside.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) and Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) are currently conducting a forensic sweep of the area.
While the motive for the shooting remains unclear, the incident is being treated as a high-priority criminal investigation.
The Paris Street off-ramp is strictly closed to all traffic to allow for the recovery of the vehicle and the collection of evidence. Motorists travelling through the Daveyton area are urged to avoid the N12 East off-ramp and seek alternative routes until the scene is cleared.
