The family of six-year-old Zekhethelo Luphalule from Malagazi in KwaZulu-Natal is devastated.

Zekhethelo’s father, Sipho Miya, said he learned she was missing around 6pm on 20 June when her mother came home from work.

“Her older sister said she last saw her playing in the yard with her friends around 2pm,” Miya said.

When her mother arrived, she asked where Zekhethelo was because she wanted to bathe her.

Zekhethelo’s aunt, who looks after her during the day, went outside to call her, but there was no answer.

The family searched for her in all the usual places but couldn’t find her. That same day, they opened a missing person case at the Isipingo Police Station.

“I’m frustrated, but I still have hope that I will find her safe,” Miya added.

Dawn Gounden from Renegades Search & Rescue said, despite all efforts, there is no trace of Zekhethelo.

“The disappearance of children is a serious matter. They are vulnerable and depend on adults for their safety,” she said.

Gounden urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or call the toll-free Crime Stop number, 0860 10111.
