Five members of a family tragically died in a house fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Gqeberha.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg reported that the fire began around midnight.
“SAPS Algoa Park responded to a report of a house on fire at Jack Street, Missionvale. When they arrived, the house was already in flames. After the fire was put out, the bodies of two adults and three children were found,” she said.
While no foul play is suspected, police have opened an inquest to investigate the incident further.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
