Family confirms the passing SA’s Got Talent judge Ian von Memerty

The family of Ian von Memerty has confirmed the passing of the renowned entertainer, aged 61, in Johannesburg.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the family announced that he died in the early hours of Monday, 23 February 2026.

Best known as the host of Strictly Come Dancing and a judge on SA’s Got Talent, his death has sparked widespread tributes across the industry.

Online reports indicate that the television personality died by suicide at a Johannesburg hotel.

His family expressed their profound grief, stating they had done everything possible to support him throughout his journey.

They have requested privacy and respect from the public as they navigate this painful loss.
