The Kariakoo Derby has all the makings of a derby – intense rivalry, passion, competitive edge and unrivalled fan involvement.
As Simba and Young Africans lock horns on Sunday [17h00 EAT] at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, here are some facts about this derby.
MOST FEATURED PLAYER
Jonas Gerald Mkude is the most featured player in this game. He has been at Simba for a very long, operating in midfield.
He was promoted from the youth team in the 2012/13 season.
He’s been one of the most consistent midfielders and remains an icon since he’s stayed at the club longer than anyone else.
Mkude has played the 24 derbies and has been given a red card once. However, Mkude has never scored a goal in the derby through open play.

The last time Simba collected a maximum set of points from Yanga in a Premier League duel was on February 16th, 2019.
Meddie Kagere netted the only goal that separated the two giants on the day.
After that, six traditional derbies have been played. The two rivals have shared the spoils in four of the outings, while Yanga has won two in the process.
