Former Golden Arrows and Chippa United coach Mark Harrison has made his mark in Malawi.
The Englishman steered Mighty Mukuru Wanderers to the Airtel Top 8 title on Saturday afternoon in the capital Lilongwe.
Harrison presided over the 5-3 post-match win over bitter rivals Nyasa Big Bullets at Bingu National Stadium.
Bullets and Wanderers had played out to a goalless draw in regulation time in front of a big crowd.
WANDERERS WIN AIRTEL TOP 8 CUP WITHOUT CONCEDING
Harrison has now set a record after winning the cup without conceding a goal in regulation time.
The former Arrows coach has also endeared himself to the Wanderers family.
Harrison has ended a four-year trophyless drought for Wanderers.
The former Botswana’s Township Rollers coach only joined Wanderers in October this year.
It also means that Wanderers have prevented Bullets, under Zimbabwean mentor Kalisto Pasuwa, from making it a clean sweet of all silverwares in Malawi.
MARK HARRISON PREVENTS BULLETS’ CLEAN SWEEP
Bullets had gone into the final match after having won the TNM Super League and FDH Cup.
Bullets found Wanderers difficult to handle in 90 minutes, paving the way for the post-match penalties.
Wanderers converted their spot kicks through Stanley Sanudi, Francis Mkonda, Miracle Gabeya, Vincent Nyangulu and Peter Cholopi.
Bullets, on the other hand, scored through Yamikani Fodya, Hassan Kajoke and Babatunde Adepoju.
However, defender Kesten Simbi, who had an otherwise splendid game, blasted his effort into the cloudless sky.
The cup final marked the official end of the domestic league in Malawi.
