On the 19th of August in 1999, South Africa woke up to the shocking news that shooters attacked her outside her home in Sandton. Florence Masebe was shot 40 times and sustained multiple bullet wounds on her hands and feet. She went through a couple of operations to remove those bullets.

Reports at the time claimed that the police counted 26 bullet holes in her car after the shooter unloaded between six and eight rounds at her.

Florence Masebe remembers this time every year and counts her blessings.

It has been 23 years, and the actress says that the date of her attack still creeps up on her with a peculiar urge to recognise her victory.

“I did not die on August 18, 1999. I am Florence Masebe, and I am still here.”

The Republic actress captioned her post.

In July of 2021, Masebe shared a picture of herself still in recovery after her attack. Masebe’s attackers were never caught. A man had turned himself in and said he was hired to kill Masebe and her colleagues on Generations a month after her incident.

The actress is seen wearing casts on both her arms in her bed.

It was reported that the 22-year-old man had stopped cooperating with the police because he feared for his life.

The actress took to her social media in 2021 to remind the SAPS that her attackers had never been caught and that the case had gone cold.

Masebe has delivered her talents to Muvhango and The Republic as The Country’s president.

The multitalented actress has made it through some difficult life situations; a few years back, she lost her son to a drowning incident at her home in a pool.
Florence also survived a horrible ordeal where she suffered an infection that nearly saw her being put on a ventilator.

The star had been getting messages of encouragement from her fans and her colleagues in the industry.
The star has a daughter who just joined Generations The Legacy as Zikhona, her name is Monthati Masebe, and she plays Nontle’s love interest.

Florence Masebe thanked her fans for wishing her well all those years ago, even when they 9nly knew her through TV.
