Morgan Mammila has resigned as Baroka FC coach after just two games into the new National First Division season.

The former police officer oversaw Bakgaga ba Mphahlele’s 1-1 home draw with Orbit College and their 4-1 defeat away at Upington City.

He had been with Baroka since June when he failed to help them achieve promotion to the Premier Soccer League during the play-offs, which were won by Richards Bay.

However, the new NFD term proved difficult for him.

“Baroka Football Club would like to announce that head coach Morgan Mammila has resigned from his position with immediate effect,” Baroka announced in a statement.

“Coach Mammila has been with the club during the PSL promotion play-offs and he was in charge of the first two games of our 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship season.

“We wish coach Mammila all the best in his future endeavours.”

Before joining Baroka, Mammila was at Chippa United, where he served as both coach and technical director.

He had made the transition from football administration to coaching, having previously worked for Baroka as their chief executive officer.

His coaching career also took him to Moroka Swallows, where he did not last long, establishing a reputation for being nomadic in his new coaching career.

Baroka are yet to announce a replacement for Mammila.
