Ex-Chiefs Veteran Spotted At PSL Rivals

Former Kaizer Chiefs veteran Ramahlwe Mphahlele has been spotted at AmaZulu on Sunday.

Mphahlele, 32, is one of the players who were released by Chiefs in the beginning of the transfer window, despite wearing the club’s armband several times.

He had been training with SuperSport United for a week earlier in the window, but there was understood to be no real interest from Gavin Hunt’s side.

However, Rama has now been spotted at AmaZulu, featuring for Usuthu in the Premiers Cup against Golden Arrows in the semi-final in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday.

Mphahlele came on as a second-half substitute against Arrows, with AmaZulu currently assessing the player ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The game ended 0-0 after 90 minutes, with AmaZulu advancing on penalties to the final, where they will face Royal AM later today.

Usuthu have already made nine signings this window but could be adding the versatile defender to bolster the experience in their squad.

The 32-year-old parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs a month ago after spending six years with the club. Rama arrived at Chiefs in 2016 from Mamelodi Sundowns after winning two league titles, one Telkom Knockout trophy and one CAF Champions League.

However, he couldn’t replicate his success at Naturena, coming close to the league title in 2020 and the CAF Champions League in 2021.
