Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Teenage Hadebe has pleaded with Zimbabwe captain Knowledge Musona to stay with the team instead of retiring from international football.
Hadebe, 26, who now plays for Houston Dynamo in the Major Soccer League, was part of Zimbabwe’s squad at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, neither Hadebe, nor Musona were able to prevent the Warriors group stage exit at the tournament, leaving many fans disappointed once more.
There are question marks over Musona’s future with the national team after Khama Billiat already announced his shock retirement ahead of the tournament, but Hadebe insists the skipper still has a lot to offer for the team.
“I believe it is still a learning curve for most of us hence we still need the services of our team captain Knowledge Musona,” he told B Metro.
“He is a great motivator and experienced player that has done a lot for the country hence the need to see him continue doing duty for the country.
“We are set to engage in the 2023 Afcon qualifiers and I believe we still need to have Musona around us,” he added.
