Eto’o Slams Cameroon Squad Despite Burundi Win

FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto’o has slammed the Cameroon national team after their display in the 1-0 victory over Burundi on Thursday.

The Indomitable Lions are in Group C alongside Namibia and Burundi, with Kenya being disqualified from competing after a FIFA ban due to government interference in the Football Kenya Federation.

And after the 1-0 win at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzania, where Burindi are playing their home games for now as they look to improve their national stadium to meet CAF standards, Eto’o was left unimpressed as Karl Toko Ekambi’s strike separated the two sides.

“I’m not happy at all. You represent Cameroon. I don’t care who’s in front of you, you have to do the job,” the four-time CAF African Footballer of the Year told the players in the dressing room.

“I cried for years because I did not participate in the World Cup finals, for many reasons and obstacles, which I intend to remove during my tenure as president of the Federation and to provide the best conditions for you.

“You have to do your best, and whoever does not want to wear the national team shirt or give his maximum, leave and I will be happy with that, and I will let the kids play at the World Cup.”

“I will give you everything, even my life, and I will fight to make you in the best conditions.”
