Eskom has reduced blackouts to stage from 10 pm until 5 am on Monday.
Eskom says this is due to a lower weekend demand.
It says there is a possibility to reduce the power cuts over the weekend.
The utility says the return to service of the broken-down generation units has been slow.
The country has been on stage two since Tuesday.
Eskom CEO André de Ruyter has warned of continuing blackouts through winter.
