Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler has releaved what his team plans to do to overcome Orlando Pirates when the two teams clash in the DStv Premiership.
City have been blowing hot and cold in the 2022/23 season and they often struggle to find a consistent winning form.
The Citizens came into the current season as one of the teams to watch after they finished as runners-up behind Mamelodi Sundowns last season.
However, they have seemingly found it difficult to replicate the rich vein of form they displayed in the 2021/22 campaign.
City have won nine games in the league, drawn eight and lost on eight occasions in 25 games they played.
Meanwhile, Pirates have been on a high after winning their last four encounters in the league and Tinkler has called on his charges to play without fear.
ERIC TINKLER URGE HIS TROOPS TO BE FEARLESS
“Orlando[Pirates] are a team in a good form, we have to apply ourselves extremely well. We’ll have to play without any fear and play a good brand of football.” Tinkler said on the club’s social media.
On the other hand, Pirates have won 13 game, drawing four while losing eight times in 25 games played.
The Soweto giants are currently positioned third on the league table with 43 points and are one point behind second-placed SuperSport United.
Jose Riveiro-coached team can leapfrog SuperSport if they claim all the maximum points against City.
In contrast, Cape Town City will be looking to taint Pirates’ chances of finishing second to qualify for the CAF Champions League.
Pirates will welcome the Cape Town-based side at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday as both clubs aim for all three points. The kick-off for that match will be at 15:00.
