The Three Lions bounced back from their Wembley defeat to Greece with a 3-1 away win over Finland in the Uefa Nations League on Sunday.
Lee Carsley’s side put the sorrow of Thursday evening behind them as Trent Alexander Arnold stole the headlines with a sublime strike from a free-kick in the fairly dominant display.
With 70 percent of the ball at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, England made it three wins from four under Carsley’s interim tenure thus far.
Jack Grealish opened the scoring early on after a classy Angel Gomes assist before the flurry of goals in the final quarter of an hour.
Starting at left back, Alexander Arnold’s rocket doubled the advantage before Declan Rice got the third just minutes before the hosts’ consolation.
With the October leg of internationals now complete, England sit second behind Greece in Group 2B.
In Saturday’s Group A action, Portugal beat Poland 3-1 as Cristiano Ronaldo inked his name on the scoresheet, while Spain picked up a 1-0 home victory over Denmark courtesy of a Martin Zubimendi winner.
Club football returns next weekend with Tottenham Hotspur taking on West Ham and Manchester United facing Brentford in the pick of Saturday’s Premier League games.
