Emtee declares his love for Da L.E.S

South African rap star Emtee has surprised fans after publicly expressing love and respect for hip-hop veteran Da L.E.S.

The Pearl Thusi hitmaker, born Mthembeni Ndevu, took to social media with a brief but powerful message that quickly caught attention.

“I love you @2freshLES (pause) always know that,” Emtee wrote, a post many fans described as refreshing and deeply genuine.

The unexpected gesture stood out in a hip-hop landscape where public praise between artists is rare.

Many interpreted Emtee’s words as a sincere moment of appreciation, signalling mutual respect between two influential figures from different eras of South African rap.

Da L.E.S, born Leslie Mampe, has long been regarded as one of the architects of modern South African hip-hop.

Over the past year, the rapper has been focused on recovering after suffering a stroke on his birthday.

Despite this challenging period, fans and industry colleagues have continued to rally around him, showing unwavering love and support.

I love you @2freshLES (pause) always know that.
