‘Embracing the chaos’: Marise Pollard on IVF, motherhood

Marise Pollard, the wife of Springboks fly-half Handre Pollard, shared a deeper look into what she has learnt through her journey of motherhood, as a mom of two.

MARISE POLLARD LAUNCHES ‘THE MOM ERA CLUB’

Mom of two Marise Pollard launched the Mom Era Club, which is branded as “space where moms can feel held, connected, and less alone.” Marise is using this platform to share her personal experiences as well as provide support to mothers and women hoping to become mothers.

In a touching post, Marise spoke about how she was so planned out and scheduled with her first child Hunter, who she welcomed with her husband, Springboks fly-half Handre Pollard in 2025. She expressed that all her planning and need for perfection changed with her daughter Isabella Tanya Pollard, who taught her to embrace the chaos.

“We planned everything to a tee. After IVF, I spent months mentally, emotionally, and spiritually preparing myself. I was determined to be organised, prepared, and on top of everything. I thought if I planned enough, motherhood would unfold exactly as I imagined,” she wrote.

“Then came Isabella…And she gently taught me one of the biggest lessons, you cannot control motherhood. She arrived and slowly chipped away at my need for perfection. The schedules,
the expectations, the pressure to have it all together. She showed me that the magic isn’t found in getting everything right, it’s found in embracing the chaos, being present in the messy moments, and sometimes simply laughing when nothing goes according to plan,” she continued.

MARISE POLLARD OPENS UP ON IVF JOURNEY

Marise also shared a very personal post revealing she and Handre conceived Hunter through IVF. She expressed that for a long time their journey of IVF felt too personal to share but it felt right sharing it with a community of moms.

“But now I realise how many people are walking this road silently, trying to conceive, grieving miscarriages, longing to become parents and feeling so alone in it all,” she wrote.
