Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis had three objectives going to the Woman’s African Cup Of Nations in Morocco and two of them have been completed.

Ellis made it clear before the kick-off of the tournament in Morocco that reaching the semi-finals is the first important thing because that would mean they have booked the spot into the FIFA Women’s World Cup that will be hosted in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.

Her second objective was to reach the final of the WAFCON 2022 which was done in style by beating Zambia in the game’s dying minutes.

“It was our two objectives to qualify for the World Cup and to get to the final,” Desiree Ellis told the media

“There are players that have come before there are coaches that have come before and Amanda once said to me is it personal and I said yes it’s personal. Because we know many have been in this position we want to go one better it’s going to be a difficult game in any case but tonight we going to celebrate,

“Tonight it’s a big celebration for SAFA for Sasol who have been with us for nine years going to two successive Olympics, two successive World Cup another successive final so great support from SAFA and Sasol and obvious the fans at home you know they have been magnificent as well, On Madiba Day how amazing is that.”

Banyana Banyana have reached their sixth WAFCON final and they will face the hosts Morocco on Saturday.
