Singing sensation Elaine performed at Kota Fest on Sunday, 5 October 2026, but it was her eye-catching outfit that stole the show.

The singer turned heads in a two-piece jean outfit with boots, and the miniskirt became the ultimate point of contention.

Elaine at Kota Fest

The South African R&B singer graced the Kota Fest Stage and performed her hit single You’re The One, the song that started it all. The singer is known for her incredible 2019 EP Elements. The album became her ultimate claim to fame.

However, her outfit became the centre of conversation. A clip from her performance went viral, showing her singing for a sizeable crowd, yet when she turned around, there was a cheeky surprise.

The look sparked split reactions, with fans sharing their opinions. Some expressed disappointment; others loved the outfit altogether, while more were confused by the outrage.

“That’s not what the fans want to see”

A few fans on X are posing the argument that the singer has a good, respectable image and sound, where the cheeky look disrupts the image she has established over the years.

“You can call me names all you want. But if someone goes off brand, this is not Elaine’s brand, it has never been, and it will never be!” one Mzansi observer said, responding to a commenter.

Some said that the look was unnecessary for her to do, claiming that she doesn’t need to resort to sex appeal for attention.

“Could be she’s not getting the attention she wants… like people aren’t streaming her music enough, so she’s showing her a** to trend and get bookings. So disappointing, ” another social media user added.“

“Yoh I’m so disappointed, her music has aura and modesty ai ai,” commented another.

Defending the miniskirt

On the other hand, other X users defended Elaine’s look, with one user stating that they could never hate a miniskirt. Some loved the look, and others expressed confusion about why some were upset.

“Why are people hating?” An X user asked.

A fan defended the star by pointing out that Elaine showed up, performed her set and did a good job, yet people are persecuting her for something else.

“The way everyone in these comments is mad about a skirt when she literally performed her set and ate. Y’all just want women to shrink so bad,” another online user wrote in defence of Elaine.
