Al Ahly winger Hussein El-Shahat says they will bounce back to beat Mamelodi Sundowns and win their CAF Champions League Group A.
El-Shahat scored on Tuesday evening in Ahly’s convincing 4-1 victory over Pharco FC that moved them back to the summit of the Egyptian Premier League.
In what appeared to be a statement win for the supporters who were reeling at their first-ever defeat to Sundowns at home after six attempts, the Egypt international admits they are determined to make up for the loss.
“The players were focused on today’s match and we were trying to make up for the defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns,” he said after the game, as per KingFut.
“The instructions were from the coaching staff led by Mosimane to continue like we were in the game and try to score a fourth goal, which we managed to do. We always play for the win whether at our own pitch or away.”
On the defeat to Sundowns, he claimed they were out of luck but claimed with certainty that they will win their final four games – despite not scoring in their opening two against Al Hilal and Masandawana.
“The players all did their best, but we weren’t lucky,” he continued. “There are four games left in the group stages and we will win them all and finish top of the group.
“We promise the fans to qualify from the group and win the Champions League for the third time in a row.”
Ahly face Al-Merrikh next in Cairo before the top of the table Egyptian Premier League encounter against Pyramids next week.
