Ekasi artist Bravo Le Roux steps into ownership, changes the game

Bravo Le Roux, the award-winning artist from Khayelitsha, has become a shareholder and partner in the Cape Spring Experience.

What was once a springtime party is growing into a full‐scale cultural movement. After attracting about 13,000 people in 2024, the Cape Spring Experience expects around 20,000 attendees in 2025 at the Kenilworth Racecourse.

Bravo shared the news with a facebook post saying, “I AM PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT:I OFFICIALLY PARTNERED WITH @thikoevents TO BE A STAKEHOLDER & A CO-PILOT of THE CAPE SPRING FESTIVALI HAVE ACHIEVED THINGS IN LIFE BUT TO OWN A FESTIVAL THIS BIG IS DEFINITELY THE HIGHLIGHT.I AM EXCITED TO CURATE THE FUTURE OF AFRICAN LIFESTYLE & MUSIC ON THE HIGHEST.

With Bravo now having a stake, TimesLIVE reports that the festival intends to expand its lifestyle features (fashion pop-ups, local food vendors, art installations) to become more immersive and community-rooted while remaining globally competitive.

“Coming from ekasi, I’ve seen what it means to celebrate our people and our sound. Now I get to be part of building something bigger: a platform that belongs to us and gives Cape Town the best taste of home while standing tall on a global stage,” the report quoted him as saying.

Bravo Le Roux, born Sinesipho Peter in Khayelitsha, has long blended authenticity and township culture into his music. He has sought to unite Cape Town hip hop and draw attention to how his upbringing in the ekasi shaped his artistic voice.
