EFF Members Mocked For Bringing Golf Clubs To ‘Peaceful Protest’

The EFF appears to have a very different definition of “peaceful protest” than the rest of us. The Red Berets were mocked online this morning after several members arrived at a protest in Soweto armed with golf clubs and pangas. The larger context of this charade makes it even funnier.

Far-left party representatives gathered outside the Dobsonville Police Station to show support for Ntate Victor Ramerafe, who is accused of being assaulted by Nhlanhla Lux and Operation Dudula. The EFF is assisting Ramerafe in filing an intimidation case against the group after they raided his home on Sunday.

Of course, nothing says “anti-violence” like getting tooled up in public.

Needless to say, these images sparked a frenzy on the internet. Many people wondered where the nearest Pitch ‘n’ Putt was, while others were painfully aware of the irony that ran through the protests.

Ian Cameron, Action Society’s Director of Community Safety, has also aimed at the EFF’s arsenal. He compared Wednesday’s protests to the carnage in Brackenfell last year, calling the protesters “cowards”:

“I see members of the local Golf Club are also singing and dancing with the EFF. Have they lost their balls? This is Brackenfell, Dobsonville style… The EFF are cowards – they prey on the weak and can only make noise in large numbers. Cowards to the core,” Ian Cameron said.
