HRM CIRCULAR NO. 31OF 2022
ENDING OF PHASE Ill OF THE PRESIDENTIAL YOUTH EMPLOYMENT INTERVENTION (PYEl) IN THE BASIC EDUCATION SECTOR AND PLANNING FOR PHASE IV.
1. Phase Ill of the PYEI which commenced on 1 April 2022 is to expire on 31 August 20. The current cohort of Assistants must be reminded that their contract will not be extended by the Department for any period beyond this date.
- Assistants must be urged to utilise the remaining period of the r contract to take advantage of all online training initiatives which are available especially to them as it may assist them in other future employment opportunities.
- Schools are discouraged from allowing Assistants to volunteer as that may create an expectation that the youth would be employed in the next phase. Phase IV is targeting a new cohort of youth.
- Planning for Phase IV of the PYEI is at an advanced Stage and is likely to commence within the first quarter of 2023. Principals and School Governing Bodies must alert the youth from within the school community who comply with the following requirements to register now on sayouth.mobi
REQUIREMENTS:
- Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 to 34;
- Have not participated in Phases 1, 2 and/ or 3 of PYEI;
- Living within 5km away from the school (30km from a farm school)
- Is not currently working, training or on a learnership
- Is not studying full or part-time online distance or on a short course
- Possesses at least a matric certificate if interested in an Education Assistant post (graduates including unemployed Fundza Lushaka graduates are encouraged to also apply)
- Not in receipt of a social grant
- Have no criminal record
4. Eligible youth who are registered on the https://sayouth.mobi may apply for the PYEI job opportunities online. The advert will be issued from 1 August 2022. The applications for Phase IV will be open from 22 August 2022 until 12 September 2022. No walk-In applications at the school will be allowed.
