When you achieve as much success as the towering Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth, documenting all those career experiences may just be the next big step to take.
After making his international debut in 2012, the 2-meter-tall mountain of a man, affectionately known as ‘Elizabedi’, went on to become one of the most respected athletes in World Rugby. Not just because of his physical dominance, but also his ability to lead by example.
The Tygerberg High School alumnus has since been a rugby revelation, having started his career representing the University of Cape Town in the Varsity Cup, Western Province, the Stormers, Toulon, Sharks, as well as the Springboks.
Throughout his 13 years of playing the sport at an elite level, the list of golden accolades was never far away. World Rugby Player of the Year, 2x Rugby World Cup winner, British & Irish Lions series winner, Rugby Championship winner, Currie Cup, Challenge Cup winner, and perhaps his most celebrated achievement, being the most capped player in Springbok history are just some standout achievements of what has been an eventful journey.
Now, he takes all of these experiences and puts them in a book, titled: Eben Etzebeth Unlocked.
Taking to Instagram, he shared the news about the upcoming release of the book that will provide die-hard fans with a closer look into the successes of his life.
“Over the past few months, I’ve taken time to reflect on my journey, the highs, the lows, the lessons, the people, and the moments that have shaped me on and off the field. I’m proud to finally announce that I’ve written a book,” he revealed.
“Unlocked tells my story, from growing up in Goodwood to my aspirations, the challenges I’ve faced, and what it really took to wear the green and gold…Thank you to everyone who’s supported me, this one is for you”.
The biography is set to be released later this year, with pre-bookings already available.
