The Durban University of Technology (DUT) has confirmed that a student who was raped at her residence on Quarry Road is receiving the necessary support.
The tragic incident took place on Monday, involving a 19-year-old student and an alleged perpetrator believed to be an employee at the housing unit.

According to KZN police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo, police in Durban have arrested a 44-year-old man following the incident.
The suspect, who is known to the victim, has been charged with rape. He appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, marking the beginning of the legal process.
