Durban July 2026: Celebrities Shine, but Not Every Look Wins

Posted on July 5, 2026

The 2026 Hollywoodbets Durban July transformed Greyville Racecourse into a spectacular fashion runway as celebrities embraced this year’s “Country Allure” theme, blending countryside elegance with high-fashion glamour. The annual event once again proved why it remains South Africa’s premier showcase of style, creativity, and celebrity culture.

Among the standout stars, Kefilwe Mabote, Lerato Kganyago, Boity Thulo, and Zola Mhlongo drew attention for their sophisticated and imaginative interpretations of the theme. Boity’s couture look paid tribute to her heritage, while Zola’s equestrian-inspired design perfectly captured the spirit of “Country Allure.” Fashion observers also praised celebrities such as Jessica Nkosi, Moozlie, and Zozibini Tunzi for delivering polished, memorable looks that balanced glamour with creativity.

However, as with every Durban July, not all outfits were universally celebrated. Social media critics noted that some celebrities appeared to lean too heavily into costume-style interpretations of the theme, with exaggerated accessories and overly theatrical designs overshadowing elegance. Fashion commentators agreed that the most successful looks were those that embraced the theme subtly, combining craftsmanship, luxury fabrics, and contemporary styling rather than relying on gimmicks.

Ultimately, the Durban July remained a celebration of individuality and bold self-expression. While opinions differed on who deserved the title of Best Dressed or Worst Dressed, the event once again demonstrated that fashion is as much a part of the Durban July tradition as the horse racing itself.
