Kaizer Chiefs forward Wandile Duba has assured fans that the club will lift the Nedbank Cup at the end of the season.
The 20-year-old speedy winger scored one of the goals as Amakhosi knocked out Mamelodi Sundowns out of the Nedbank Cup. Goals from Duba and Ashley du Preez secured a 2-1 win for the Glamour Boys on Sunday at the Loftus Versfeld.
After the match, Duba explained how Chiefs knocked their rivals out of the Nedbank Cup
“Our target was him Lucas Suarez. We knew he makes a lot of mistakes. We knew that if we forced him to play inside, he’d pass us the ball,” he said after being awarded Man of the Match.
“They didn’t create any chances, these guys, they only had a free kick.”
Duba inspires Chiefs to Nedbank Cup final
“He [Nabi] told us not to rush them [Sundowns],” Duba said during a post-match interview on SuperSport TV.
“We all know that Sundowns is good when it comes to build-up play, so the coach said we should wait for moments where we can capitalise, like my goal. He did say that their left centre-back [Suarez] makes many mistakes.
“Coach said we should make a trap and close him down in a way that will force him to make an inward pass like he did, which ultimately resulted in my goal-scoring opportunity.
“Yes [the coach said we should target Suarez]. Since the start of the week, he said our target is the left centre-back.”
Last week, Duba promised Kaizer Chiefs fans that the club would beat Sundowns and go all the way and win the Nedbank Cup final. Amakhosi will now play the most important game of the season when they face old foes Orlando Pirates, in the final.
