Ashley Du Preez has shared a heartfelt message with Stellenbosch FC fans after his move to Kaizer Chiefs was confirmed.

The 24-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at Stellenbosch, and netted nine goals for the Winelands-based side in 2021/22 will join Amakhosi along with his teammate Zitha Kwinika on 1 July, Stellenbosch confirmed on Monday.

Du Preez netted nine goals this campaign and was one of the top targets at Chiefs, where he and Kwinika become the first new signings of recently appointed head coach Arthur Zwane.

Leaving his home club, Du Preez shared a message with the supporters of Stellies.

“It’s never an easy decision leaving a club like Stellenbosch, a town that’s given me so much, a community that’s given me so much,” he said.

“I want to thank the management, the coaching staff, Garth Le Roux, Rob Benadie. I want to thank them for supporting me.

“I want to thank the community for supporting me through thick and thin.

“Even though I’m going to a next chapter, you will always be in my heart. I hope you guys will keep on supporting me wherever I go.”

Kaizer Chiefs are yet to announce any of their new signings officially.
