- DStv has launched a new “split-the-bill” feature on its mobile app to simplify shared payments.
- The move aims to lower individual costs and adapt to the reality of modern shared households.
- This update precedes a comprehensive MultiChoice strategic overhaul scheduled for March.
DStv has introduced a new feature allowing account holders to split their monthly subscription bills directly through the MyDStv App.
The “Share Your DStv Bill” function enables primary subscribers to send a secure payment link to a friend, family member, or tenant.
This allows two individuals to divide the total cost of a single subscription, making the process more transparent and reducing the administrative burden on the primary account holder.
The initiative, backed by Canal+, is designed to acknowledge the shift in consumer behaviour.
As many households and residential “landlords” already manually split costs with others, the new digital tool provides a seamless way to manage shared expenses while encouraging broader access to the platform’s content.
A spokesperson noted that the feature reflects the “reality of shared living arrangements,” where high-quality entertainment is often a collective expense rather than a solitary one.
MultiChoice, DStv’s parent company, is expected to unveil a full-scale commercial strategy this March, which will likely further detail how the broadcaster intends to navigate the evolving digital and economic landscape.
