  • Parts of Pretoria will face dry taps for 12 hours on 1 October due to maintenance on the Salvokop Reservoir supply network.
  • The outage will last from 08h00 to 20h00 as the City of Tshwane replaces faulty equipment.
  • Residents are urged to save water, report leaks, and use grey water where possible.

Residents in parts of Pretoria will experience dry taps for up to 12 hours on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, as the City of Tshwane carries out essential maintenance on the Salvokop Reservoir water supply network.

The city announced that the work, which involves replacing faulty equipment, will take place from 08h00 until 20h00. Officials have apologised for the inconvenience and urged residents to plan for the scheduled water interruption.

To help conserve water during and beyond the maintenance period, residents are encouraged to adopt water-saving habits, such as avoiding garden irrigation and car washing with hosepipes between 06h00 and 18h00, refraining from filling swimming pools, and using grey water for gardens and toilet flushing.

The city also called on the public to report water leaks, burst pipes, and any incidents of water wastage, and to install water-saving devices where possible.
