Drivers must follow road rules, says Mpumalanga safety MEC

The Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety says his department is working on fixing the roads in the province.

He has also warned motorists to drive with caution and to respect the rules of the road.

Community Safety MEC Vusi Shongwe said, “in other areas, we do have roads with potholes roads that are not in good condition. But there are lots of accidents caused by human error, I can cite a number of them…”

“You know there was an accident on Moloto road, it is a killer road as named by a number of people but that road as far as conditions are concerned the conditions are good…”

“There were people that were killed by a bakkie overloaded, you know with more than capacity of that bakkie, and we lost nine lives at a go and that’s not road condition…”

“I don’t want to take our responsibilities away as a department to deal with potholes in our province, that is in the pipeline, it will be addressed.”
