Driver and passenger escape serious injury after truck catches alight on the N3

KwaZulu-Natal: At Netcare 911 responded to a truck fire on the N3 West Bound, near the Sherwood off-ramp in Durban.

Reports indicate that while driving up the N3 the driver of the truck noticed multiple warning lights appear on his dashboard.

The driver, transporting cooking oil, pulled over to the side of the road where the truck burst into flames.

When medics arrived on the scene they found the truck well alight.

The driver and his passenger, both adult males, were assessed and found to have sustained smoke inhalation, however, declined ambulance transportation to the hospital.

The Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene within minutes and managed to extinguish the fire.
