A scuffle broke out between Polokwane City and All Stars players, officials and referees at the end of their Motsepe Foundation Championship clash, at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
City took the lead in the first half and Stars equalised before the break. In injury-time in the second half the visitors scored what looked like the winner but the goal was flagged offside.
However, while Stars were celebrating before being aware that their goal was disallowed, City restarted the game and scored what was recorded as the eventual winner to keep them at the top of the log with 40 points in 19 games.
The visiting coach Sinethemba Badela expressed his emotions saying he didn’t like what happened, especially because it not the first time teams have felt hard done by decisions against City at home, calling the league to look into the matter.
“I thought we played well. We were fighting for the result, we had better chances and I don’t like what happened towards the end of the game,” he told the media after the game.
“I mean first we got a penalty, they [referees] don’t give the penalty and after that there is no control of the game but you could see already from the whole game.
“I mean they were getting corners that were not corners. They were getting fouls that were not fouls. It’s really not fair but hey what must we do?
“We have to work a little bit harder and if I talk I will be in big trouble so it’s better I don’t comment and just congratulate the home team for the win.
“Our players they are honest people they work very hard and we knew because it first started with the opposition, not allowing our analyst to record the game. Already that tells you one thing of what must happen but the players fought and I feel sorry for them to be quite honest because they really worked hard and they did their best.
“It is [discouraging] you want the game to be fair but it’s not the first time something like this happens here but the league needs to do something about it.
“But if you come here and you get anything you are very lucky because they don’t allow the analysts to come, they don’t allow a lot of things.
“I’m not one to complain about the referees because they make mistakes the same way as us but some of the calls… Even in the first half there were two fouls. The first foul on Ndwandwe then Promise got in the box they kicked him but he doesn’t give the foul, he gives the other one.

“It’s decisions like that, they favour the home team. We have to take it on the chin and we have to just move on.”
In the first half of the campaign La Masia also complained about City officials not allowing their video analyst to record a game at the same venue.
