In August, Dr Malinga found himself trending after failing to pay his mortgage with the bank, and his house was repossessed. The musician then went on MacG’s podcast and shared how he was about to lose everything he had worked for as SARS had auctioned his property. In the wake of all this news, Dr Malinga had many fans willing to help him with donations and even celebrities like Black Coffee, Makhadzi and many more. However now Dr Malinga has found himself trending again after showing off a new McLaren in a Tik Tok video.

The musician, who was the brains behind some hit songs a few years ago, saw his bank balance growing after receiving donations from willing fans and friends. Many people were shocked at how the tables turned for the musician as he went from being a beggar to someone with an overflowing bank balance the next day. Mzansi was only happy to help the struggling musician at his lowest, and they were delighted when he recovered from the SARS blow.

Dr Malinga took to his Instagram account and Tik Tok to share a video of him showing off a McLaren, and this did not sit well with many South Africans. The musician shared the video and captioned the post Ngiyabonga Nkosi, the title of his latest song.

In the video, Dr Malinga makes comic moves as he shows off the expensive automobile. He even does his signature leg action as he gets his leg out through the window at a place that looks like a costly resort. The McLaren is red with a black roof and is worth R5 million in the South African market.

The car is owned by some of the wealthiest celebrities in South Africa, like Cassper Nyovest, Andile Mpisane, Black Coffee and many more. Whether the vehicle belongs to Dr Malinga or he is working as a brand ambassador, fans are still to find out. However, many people have mixed emotions about the artist showing off such a powerful and expensive car a few months after claiming to be broke.

Fans’ reaction to Dr Malinga showing off the McLaren

Many South Africans call out Dr Malinga and say he faked being broke to get money to buy a McLaren. Some say they want their money back, which they donated to the musician when he said he had lost everything. However, some say people who helped him escape poverty should not complain when he is out of poverty and living luxuriously as he did before. This is also accompanied by some fans saying that Dr Malinga did not say he bought the car and it could be a brand ambassadorial job.
