Downs Ladies thrash Celtic to extend Super League lead

The Hollywoodbets Super League continued this weekend with fascinating fixtures that saw the defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, extend their lead with seven points. 

At the same time, TUT failed to close the gap on top after they succumbed to 2-1 to First Touch FC. 

Downs Ladies outclassed Bloemfontein Celtic 3-0 in a mouthwatering showdown at Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale.

Banyana Ba Style came into this clash highly motivated following their comfortable 4-0 win over Thunderbirds Ladies in the midweek action, whereas Celtic had crashed Richmond United 3-0 on their own turf.  

In a pre-match interview the red-hot mentor Jerry Tshabalala had stated that he is anticipating a tough battle against their opponents but it seemed like they had prepared well to get morez glory.

“We will be facing a different opposition and we need to be vigilant in every aspect of our game,” he told Sundowns’ media. 

“The goal is to retain the league title this season and we cannot afford any further slip-up.

“We are a team that usually embarks on long runs without dropping points and we need to work hard to ensure things stay that way.” 

As things stand, Masandawana are flourishing on the summit of the log standings with 55 points from 21 outings. 

The red-hot Brazilians are a high-scoring team in the league with an incredible 86 goals, and only conceded just 11 goals thus far. 

At the bottom of the table, Vasco Da Gama woes continued as they failed to get real grit to grab fruitful results in order to avoid the chop as suffured 2-0 defeat to City Lads.
